Tomas Galasek, Czech midfielder and former national team captain, is returning to Czech League's Banik Ostrava after 12 years of playing abroad, Banik Ostrava's management said on Thursday.

Galasek, 35, has signed a one-year contract with Banik, the Czech news agency CTK said.

Galasek ended his career as the national team's player after the Euro championship this June.

Until the past season he played for Germany's Nuremberg, which lost interest in him after being relegated to the second league.

Galasek now decided to join Ostrava, his home team before his departure abroad. He has declined the offers he received from Cyprus and Greece.

"I don't feel like such an adventure any more," he said.

Banik Ostrava has not paid anything for Galasek, though his contract with Nuremberg has not expired as yet. Nuremberg released him without claiming financial compensation, according to CTK.

Galasek played 69 matches for the Czech national team, taking part in two Euros and one World Cup. In the past years, he played for Dutch Tilburg, Ajax Amsterdam and finally for Nuremberg.

Galasek's teammate, Czech striker Jan Koller transferred from FC Nuremberg to Russia's Soviet Wings Samara this June, since Nuremberg's management announced it could not afford to pay its biggest stars anymore.
