Foreign countries congratulate Chinese leaders elected at ongoing NPC session

A number of foreign leaders have sent congratulations to the Chinese leaders newly elected at the ongoing first session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.

The following foreign leaders have sent messages of congratulation to President Hu Jintao, who was reelected president of the country on Saturday:

Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s National Defense Commission.

Nguyen Minh Triet, president of Vietnam.

Hungarian President Solyom Laszlo.

Emperor of Japan Akihito.

Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo.

The following foreign leaders have sent messages of congratulation to Hu Jintao, who was reelected Chairman of China's Central Military Commission:

Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK's National Defense Commission.

The following foreign leaders have sent messages of congratulation to Wu Bangguo, who was reelected as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress:
