Beijing Hyundai Motor Company will recall about 63,588 vehicles assembled between June 4, 2008 and Jan. 13, 2011 starting April 15, 2011, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

The recall includes the Elantra, Elantra Yuedong, Accent, Sonata NF, Tucson, Verna, Sonata Monica and i30 models.

Some of the vehicles to be recalled are equipped with faulty tires that were made by Kumho Tire in 2008 with the production batch number of C0 2208 and C0 4008; in 2009 with the batch number of C0 0509 and C0 0909; in 2010 with the batch number of C0 2410 and C0 2910 and in 2011 with the batch number of C0 0111.

Kumho Tire failed to manufacture these recall-involved tires in strict accordance with its internal standards, using excessive recycled tires. This will possibly erode the quality of the tires. To protect consumer rights, Beijing Hyundai will make checks on recalled vehicles and replace the seven batches of faulty tires for free.

The recall will be conducted through the sales and after-sale service networks of both Beijing Hyundai and Kumho Tire.
