Customs officers from the Wusong Checkpoint in Shanghai were at the Wusong harbor to conduct entry frontier inspection procedures for 134 honored expedition team members and the crew of the Snow Dragon exploration ship on March 31. This marks the completion of the Snow Dragon exploration ship’s 27th Antarctica expedition and official return to the motherland.

The exploration ship sailed from Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on Nov. 11, 2010 to execute the "one ship and two stations" tasks during the 19,481-nautical mile voyage. It mainly conducted five research tasks in the Southern Ocean related to physical oceanography, marine chemistry and marine biology, said Shen Quan, captain of the Snow Dragon.

One of the important tasks of the recent Antarctica expedition was to continue the construction of the Kunlun Station. Expedition team members of the Kunlun Station improved the living area of the multiple-use building as well as the logistical support facilities and equipment, and also established construction projects such as deep-ice core drilling while implementing scientific research regarding glaciers, astronomy, geology and ecology of the Dome A region.
