Int'l Horticultural Exposition to kick off in Xi'an

The International Horticultural Exposition 2011 in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, will kick off on April 28 as scheduled and the related preparations have basically been completed, according to a release by the State Bureau of Forestry on March 15.

With the theme of "Harmony Between Nature and Cities," the expo will be held in the Chan-Ba Ecological District of Xi'an between April 28 and Oct. 22. The 178-day expo is expected to receive up to 12 million tourists. The expo will introduce four giant pandas and 20 Nipponia nippons.

There will be more than 5,000 performances during the expo, such as an activity week, multimedia shows and float parades.

The preparations for the 17 forums has entered into the implementation stage, including the Euro-Asia Economic Forum, the 63rd AIPH (International Organization of Horticultural Producers) annual congress, the Green City Forum, the National Arboretum Annual Meeting and the International Landscape and Garden Forum.
