China's major scientific achievements to be publicly traded

A number of major scientific and technological achievements from China's national scientific and technological plans, such as the "Major Scientific and Technological Program" and the "Scientific and Technological Support" plan, will be publicly traded through means such as auctions.

This will explore a new pattern for the transformation of China's scientific and technological achievements, according to a conference on publicly-traded major national scientific and technological achievements during the 11th Five-Year Plan period held on March 13.

According to sources, a total of 26 items were included in the first batch of publicly-traded national scientific and technological achievements, involving fields such as biomedicine, energy conservation, agricultural science and technology as well as information technology. They will be publicly traded through means such as listings, auctions and biddings.

China's scientific and technological development entered into an important leap-forward period. Considerable portions of the scientific and technological achievements have high value through the technological market transformation and have strongly supported economic and social development.

Statistics show that the scope of China's scientific and technological achievements transformation supported and developed with financial funds continuously expanded during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, and a total of 128,671 contracts involving a total of 284 billion yuan were signed in the technological market.

Officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology said that China's economic and social development required a higher demand on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and related departments will continue to explore new patterns and adopt more effective measures to create a new situation of scientific and technological achievements transformation and industrialization.
