The 37 workers poisoned by n-hexane while working for a Chinese supplier to the U.S.-based Apple company received a disability supplement on their salary bank cards of between 10,000 yuan and 30,000 yuan, or 1,500 U.S. dollars to 4,500 U.S. dollars.

However, they said that they are even more worried than before. What does the money mean? Will they be asked to leave their jobs or is it just compensation?

Officials responded that the victimized were supposed to get the compensation earlier, said the director-general of the labor and social security department of the Jiangsu provincial industrial park.

The supplier claimed that other staff got compensation because they signed the agreements without the consultation between staff and their lawyers. The agreements said that they will only get compensations after leaving their jobs. This means that the 37 poisoned workers are able to get aid without leaving their posts because of the coordination from the industrial park.

Another problem has been resolved as well. The Suzhou Industrial Park agreed to conduct health follow-up appointments with the poisoned workers as soon as possible. It is confirmed that at 8:30 am on Feb. 21 the medical experts from Nanjing and Shanghai will do the health checks.

The solution is based on current dispute between the poisoned staff and the supplier factory that any health check done by the individual workers will not be acknowledged by the factory. Meanwhile, the factory has not yet helped any of the poisoned workers to get another examination.

Now that the agreement has been made, it is said that once related health problems are reported, the supplier will commit to help the recovery and pay all the expenses.
