Dr. S. Jaishankar, India's Ambassador to China addresses a speech at the commemoration conference of Tagore's 150th birth anniversary in Beijing, capital of China, May 7, 2011. Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held the commemoration conference and the start-up ceremony of a series of culture activities in Beijing. Tagore was born on May 7th, 1861 in India and is the most prominent Indian poet and writer known abroad. He was the first Asian to win Nobel Prize for his collection of poems "Geetanjali" in 1913. A poet, novelist, artist and philosopher, Tagore and his works influences a group of Chinese writers. (Xinhua/Xie Huanchi)
