Russian media reports that Beijing will hold a homosexual beauty contest January 15. According to the report, this is the first homosexual contest in China's history.

On January 11, Russian-based website "Lenta" reported that the names of the contest's 12 participants had been published on the organizers' official website. 8 candidates had reached the final and their names have been made public. The final competitors will compete by showing off their talents and their tastes in fashion. Meanwhile, they will also answer questions proposed by the judges. The winner will take part in the international contest held in Norway in February.

The report also states that the Chinese government recently adopted measures to protect homosexuals, and China also opened its first homosexual wine bar at the end of 2009.
