David Beckham will not compete in a fourth World Cup, owing to an Achilles tendon injury in Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo on March 14. The 35-year-old suffered severe pain in his right leg and collapsed on the sideline before being carried away on a stretcher for medical treatment. He had hoped to be on England's squad in the World Cup scheduled for June in South Africa, but instead will be out for at least five or six months and there is no chance he will play for England.
