Israel confirmed Wednesday that it had carried out an airstrike in the Gaza Strip for the first time in months.
The airstrike targeted a tunnel used by Gaza militants in central Gaza Strip, Israel Radio quoted an army spokesperson as saying.
The Palestinians said the attack, which took place at dawn in an open land, caused no casualties.
The airstrike came after Palestinian militants fired a home- made rocket and a mortar shell from Gaza towards Israel territories.
The situation in Gaza had been calm since the end of weeks of mutual, cross-border hostilities in March and early April between Israel and militant groups.
Hamas, which controls Gaza, persuaded the militant groups to restrain after the Israeli attacks killed 20 Palestinians, most of them Hamas militants.
