This group of photos is contributed by Philippe Sibelly, who initiated the Other Africa, a photographic project that aims to promote a new vision of the continent. The ultimate objective of the project is to create an exhibition of 54 images - one photo per African country.

On the island of Sao Tome I rented a motorbike and drove along the East Cost road at night. The sceneries were stunning, with large bays and beautiful beaches under the palm trees. Here an old boat rests in the bay and in the background a field of radio masts can clearly be seen.

Douala is a busy city. Traffic is constant, day or night. It is a great city for those in search of adventure. Here we can see a busy intersection in the centre of town, viewed from the balcony of a restaurant where I was having diner.

Beautiful Manal is a successful singer and TV presenter in Algeria. When we met, she was busy working on a new music show, for the national Algerian TV station. She poses here in front of the bay of Algiers on the heights of the city.
