Small blast happens at hotel near Davos annual meeting, but no injuries, police

A small explosion happened Thursday morning in a hotel about two kilometers away from the main venue of the 41st World Economic Forum (WEF), but didn't cause any injuries, according to a local police officer. A small explosion happened Thursday morning in a hotel about two kilometers away from the main venue of the 41st World Economic Forum (WEF), but didn't cause any injuries, according to a local police officer.

Thomas Hobi, a spokesman for the local police office of Davos, told Xinhua that the blast in a basement room of the hotel named Posthotel Morosani only caused two or three windows broken.

Cause of the blast is still under investigation, the spokesman said.

But the receptionist of the hotel denied there was any explosion this morning.

There have been tight security checks in Davos as reports said a demonstration would take palce on Saturday against the WEF annual meeting of business and political leaders.
