Toxic water and red sludge from a burst Hungarian metals reservoir tore through three villages near Ajkai, 160 kilometers southwest of the capital Budapest on Oct. 4, killing nine, injuring some 150, leaving more than 100 hospitalized and more than 300 residential houses inundated. The toxic water was disastrous to local living things. Photo, taken on Oct. 9, shows a rescue staff member walking pass a toy tractor soaked in the red sludge.
