Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday took his oath as Philippine 15th president at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila in front of thousands of Filipinos.

Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales officiated the oath taking, the first female justice to swear in a Philippine president. Traditionally, Philippine presidents take their oath before a Chief Justice.

Shortly before Aquino took his oath, Vice-President Jejomar Binay took his oath as the next vice president, also administered by Conchita Morales-Carpio.

Benigno, son of former Philippine President Corazon Aquino and senator Benigno Aquino, Jr., won a landslide victory in the May 2010 polls in the country's first automated election.
