Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched a combined maneuver of the country's armed forces, the official Korean Central News Agency reported on Sunday.

The air force, navy and army "showered merciless barrage at the 'enemy group' in close coordination, thus shattering the 'enemy camp' to pieces and turning it into a sea of flame," said the report.

The report said Kim expressed satisfaction with the development of the Korean People's Army into "revolutionary armed forces with modern offensive and defensive means."

The report did not say when and where the drills were conducted.
