Teachers and students pray in the church of Ilia Chavchavadze State University during the 172th birthday anniversary of Ilia Chavchavadze, an eminent Georgian writer and public figure, in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, on Oct. 27, 2009. Ilia Chavchavadze, one of the founders of new Georgian literary language, a writer, a translator and a publicist, who played a vital role not only in Georgian literature but in the rise of national mentality and consolidation of the Georgians, was revered as Pater Patriae (Father of the Fatherland) of Georgia.
