Recently, the largest overgrowth of sea grass this year struck Qingdao, and it is expected to badly harm the tourism and fishing industries.

Now is the hot season for tourism in Qingdao, but the beaches have had fewer visitors because of the overgrowth. Some beaches even had to be closed temporarily. The government has ordered emergency response units to remove the sea grass twenty-four hours a day. As of now, the overgrowth of sea grass is still happening.
