Chinese students prepare for energy saving vehicle marathon competition

The energy saving vehicle club of Beijing Institute of Technology was founded in 2007. Most members of the club are sophomore and junior students who major in automotive engineering technology, mechanical engineering, automatization and electirc power. They install engineered gasoline engine to home-made frame and take part in energy saving competition. In 2009, their home-made vehicle won the champion in a national energy saving comptition held in Shanghai and set a new national record by running 1,279.565 kilometers with a liter of gasoline. So far, the club has more than 30 members. They are busy preparing for the energy saving vehicle marathon competition to be held in Malaysia in July. (Xinhua/Qin Haishi)
