Heavy snow continues to sweep much of south China, disrupting traffic and closing airports. In some regions, the snow is more than 12 centimeters. Ice on the surface of Jiujiang Yangtze River Bridge, the traffic artery linking Hubei, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces, caused vehicles to back up starting late Jan. 19. The heavy snow continues to fall in the region, and the line of stranded vehicles extends for 18 kilometers. Photo, taken in the early morning of Jan. 20, shows stranded passengers looking out of windows. They could do nothing but wait in freezing temperature.
