The drought has lingered in southwest China for months, affecting 61.3 million residents and five million hectares of crops in Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan provinces, Chongqing Municipality and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said.
