As one of the six ancient towns along the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Xitang lies peacefully in Jiashan County of Jiaxing City in east China's Zhejiang Province. [Photo: china.com.cn]
Xitang has a tranquil natural environment with a densely knitted network of streams. Nine canals converge at the town, dividing it into eight zones, while numerous bridges connect the water town as a whole. The setting of the town is likened to nine dragons holding a jewel with wind blowing from all directions.
Many well-preserved building complexes with high architectural value can be found in the ancient town. Taking a boat trip through the town, the special ambience of its typical architecture and picturesque natural scenery will surely create unforgettable memories.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, Xitang is a place you can go to experience the purest paradise depicted only in poems and paintings.
