Spain's Health Ministry on Sunday confirmed seven new cases of the deadly new strain of A/H1N1 flu at a military school in Madrid neighborhood Hoyo de Manzanarez, raising the number of confirmed cases at the institution to 18.
Some 133 are affected in the nation as a whole. All of those at the Military Engineers Academy had presented mild symptoms and responded well to treatment, the ministry said, adding that no new hospitalizations had taken place. The ministry said that school now had 81 possible cases, 20 more than it had reported on Saturday.
The school is now in quarantine and military health officials had applied World Health Organization-designed protocols, listed in the nation's National Preparation Plan, at all times, the Ministry said.
Spaniards have complained publicly that pupils from another school visited the affected school last week, even though information about the virus there had already been published. Evenso, Madrid city government said there are no reports of anyone in the neighborhood being affected by the virus.
