All 49 visitors who were quarantined in the Philippines for developing flu-like symptoms have been discharged after doctors cleared them of Influenza A/H1N1 infection, the country's chief health official said Thursday.

The 49 people, aged 1-80, were put under medical observation after arriving at the air and sea ports of the Philippines from the Influenza A/H1N1 affected countries and regions, said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Duque told a press conference in Muntilupa, south of Manila, that the Philippines has "zero case" of the flu and it is "highly probable that the virus or its carrier has, so far, not been able to penetrate our public health cordon."

But Duque warned the public to remain vigilant as on the global front the new flu virus has infected 5,728 people with 61 deaths, according to the latest tally of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The health chief also issued a list of public guidelines to request people who organize or participate in any public gatherings to observe strict precautions to avoid a large-scale outbreak.
