In the past 10 years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has spread to over 160 countries and regions around the world, with total exports of TCM products exceeding US $1 billion.

After years of efforts, TCM has become known worldwide, raising China's international influence. A full dimensional, multi-level and wide-ranging pattern has been formed in international cooperation and exchanges in TCM. As a result, cooperation of external medical treatment, education and scientific and technological cooperation of TCM have continuously expanded. So far, over 70 countries have signed 94 governmental agreements on TCM content and 45 specialized TCM cooperation agreements with China. China will launch a TCM international cooperation plan in the new era, and will hold a work conference on external exchanges and cooperation in TCM at the right time.

In China there are currently 47 TCM institutions of higher learning (including institutions of folk medicines of ethnic minorities) and over 600,000 qualified TCM medical practitioners (including assistant medical practitioners), over 370,000 of which are certified TCM physicians.
