The Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) on Monday presented two top prizes of the Critics Choice Television Awards to ABC's hit "Modern Family" and AMC's "Mad Men".

"Modern Family" was named best comedy series and "Mad Men" won the best drama series, said BTJA, an offshoot of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which annually presents the Critics Choice Movie Awards.

"Mad Men's" Jon Hamm was named best actor in a drama, while Jim Parsons took home the prize for best actor in a comedy series for his work on "The Big Bang Theory."

But despite having five of its cast members nominated for supporting roles, "Modern Family" failed to win any acting awards.

Julianna Margulies won best actress in a drama for "The Good Wife," while Tina Fey was named best actress for "30 Rock."

Neil Patrick Harris was named best supporting actor in a comedy for "How I Met Your Mother," while Busy Philipps of "Cougar Town" won best supporting actress.

In the drama categories, John Noble of "Fringe" was named best supporting actor, while the supporting-actress category ended in a tie between Christina Hendricks of "Mad Men" and Margo Martindale of "Justified."
