The foundation for the center's building was laid on Wednesday, and the center's construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013, said a Jiaozuo government official.

The center will cover an area of 1,351.8 mu (90.12 hectares) and will feature indoor and outdoor stadiums, a swimming pool and a fitness center.

Tai Chi culture exhibitions will be held at the venue.
