A biennial international aerospace and defense exhibition will kick off in Seoul on Tuesday.

The Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2009, one of the largest arms exhibitions in Asia, will take place from Tuesday to Sunday at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the South Korea's Air Force said Monday in a press release.

The exhibition, started in 1996, is expected to attract military chiefs and procurement officials from more than 20 nations and over 30,000 audiences, while 271 defense companies will promote their products during the event, it said.

One of the highlights of the upcoming event is a joint air show by the South Korean Air Force's aerobatic team, the Black Eagles, and the U.S. Thunderbirds, it added.

The exhibition, which is to be open to the public on Oct. 24 and 25, will display military equipment such as F-15s, F-18s, K-2 tanks, K-9 self-propelled guns, KUH helicopters, Global Hawks, C-17 transports, naval training simulators, and P-3C naval reconnaissance aircraft, it said.

Also on display is the world's largest commercial airplane, the A-380 built by Airbus.
