A criminal, surnamed Huang, never expected surfing the Internet would land him in prison. Recently, Zhaoqing police of Guangdong Province hunted one criminal down through cyber sleuthing, Guangzhou Daily reported on Feb. 22.

On the early morning of Nov. 26 last year, a local Zhaoqing girl took a walk alone in a park after a fight with her boyfriend. However, she never thought that night would become her worst nightmare.

At that night, she was robbed by five men and raped by one of them. Although she felt humiliated, she still called the police after all.

Zhaoqing police identified the targets with the help of a surveillance camera and quickly arrested four criminals at an industry park on Dec. 24 last year. However, Huang, the fifth criminal, was not with them and escaped.

After analysis of the criminal, detectives found that Huang liked surfing the Internet very much, and then they quickly released lots of personal information about him, including his looks and ID details, through their official micro-blog on a famous Chinese website and created a huge online dragnet on the Internet starting on Jan. 7 of this year.

The cyber wanted notice quickly triggered netizens' interests. Lots of micro-blogs transmitted this piece of information and said they would be on the lookout for the criminal.

On the other side, Huang hid for more than two months and stupidly thought everything was back to normal, so he returned to the industry park where his companions were arrested.

In the afternoon of Jan. 19, Huang went to an Internet bar without a disguise and was recognized by a person who had seen his photo on his own micro-blog. In order to be sure, the person logged on his micro-blog and checked the criminal's photo again, and then he called Zhaoqing police and asked them to come to arrest Huang.

Finally, Huang was arrested by police and confirmed that he was the fifth criminal who committed the robbery and rape more than two months ago. Huang did not realize until the last moment that his personal interest, which he was so immersed in at the moment, would be his undoing.
