Foxconn Scientific Park in Zhengzhou is exploring new methods to recruit workers to ease the possible shortage during Spring Festival, according to a report by Chinanews on Jan. 18.

Breaking from its normal recruitment procedures, Foxconn located its recruiting point at Zhengzhou's railway station, where a large influx of workers is expected. Besides, Foxconn can also offer a pretty attractive bonus for people who can successfully pass the recruitment.

Foxconn, as a global manufacturing giant, came to Henan Province last year. For its development in Zhengzhou, including building a "city within city" with a projected total population of 300,000, absorbing workers has become the most important thing for Foxconn Scientific Park at the moment.

Because it is the end of the year and many workers work in other cities will come back for the festival, Foxconn decided to set up a recruiting point at the Zhengzhou railway station and wanted to make sure that the recruitment information would be the first thing that all workers would see upon arrival. At the same time, in order to get more people to try, Foxconn also prepared attractive gifts for everyone who can pass the recruitment process.

The gifts include a suit of bedding priced at about 100 RMB, a red bonus package (Hong Bao in Chinese) of 200 RMB, the 400-RMB-extra life allowance after signed the contract of labor, traveling expenses for visiting and training in the scientific park in Shenzhen as well as fees for physical examination. However, all the bonuses are only provided to people who can pass the recruitment before Jan. 22.

A recruiter said they placed the recruitment center at the station in the location where the most people would gather, which will allow them to recruit some skilled workers and also to expand Foxconn's influence through interpersonal communication.

"I came back from Zhejiang Province, and it is not wise to work there any longer since living expenses are increasing. On the contrary, Foxconn offers relatively better situations, and it is a good opportunity for me to earn more money," a worker said.
