The actual salaries of college graduates fell between the years 2005 to 2009, according to a joint report released by the Institute of Sociology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Social Sciences Academic Press on Dec. 15.

According to the "Blue Paper of Society 2011," in 2005, a bachelor's degree graduate's salary for his first job was up to 3.32 times higher than the per capita incomes of his family members on average. However, the figure was down to 2.06 in the year 2009.

The paper also points out that college graduates' earning expectations are higher than their actual salaries. The average contracted salary of bachelor's degree graduates is 2,703 RMB, 5,120 RMB for those with a master's degree and 3,225 RMB for doctorate holders.
