A poster that forbids students from raising pets in their dorm and says the animals will be confiscated and possibly killed was posted recently in a dorm bulletin board of an unidentified university in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

An unidentified employee of the Logistics Management Center of the university said the regulation was due to complaints by some students about sanitation problems caused by the pets' excrement.

Some students were reported as saying that it was better to let the pets go rather than kill them.

The Logistics Management Center employee explained that they would first try to persuade students to give up having pets in the dorm rather than kill them. Only pets that threaten the students' safety will be killed, he said.
