March 7 was a normal date for most people, but it has now been give a new meaning by unmarried Chinese girls and became "Girls' Day". It is said that they have chosen this date one day before "International Women's Day" to separate themselves from married women.

"Girls' Day", also called "Shanzhai Valentine's Day", is a day when boys deliver gifts to the girls they like and some girls and boy's dormitories hold activities such as going out and dining together in order to increase opportunities for a "quick date".

"We all love 'Girls' Day', because the word 'girl' is suitable for our identities. At the same time, 'girl', to me, means more fashionable and energetic and marks youth and independence when it describes me." said Li Yifei, a university student.

According to girls, the celebration of "Girls' Day" is not for fighting against growing up, but an effort to try and maintain girls' naivety and energy while admiring maturity.
