Wall Street: huge sum of money, criticized "ridiculous" by government

This week, Wall Street has begun giving its annual bonuses, and many financial institutions plan to give huge sums of money to their employees. Bankers and tellers will get a six figure bonuses; some CEOs could even get seven or eight figure bonuses. Christina D. Romer, the chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), said that it was "ridiculous" that banks, which had accepted government's financial help, planned to pay out billions in bonuses for last year.
