Beijing Meteorological Bureau released the blue early warning for a cold wave and strong winds on December 24. Reporters learned that this is the first cold wave and temperature drop Beijing will experience since the winter arrived. Temperatures will drop sharply and the low temperature record for the current period in the past 10 years might be broken.

According to meteorological data, the lowest temperature recorded at the observatory for the second half of December in the past 10 years is -13.5 degrees Celsius in 2008. The record will probably be broken after this cold wave passes.

Reporters also learned that although this cold wave is strong and fierce, it will not last long. The temperature in Beijing is expected to rise slightly on December 26.
