Three Beijingers jailed in US. Spies again?
|According to The Global Times, the Inspection Office of the Justice Department, mid California, US, released an announcement on Aug 4 that three Beijing Chinese were jailed because of illegally exporting military technology to China.
However, Chinese experts seriously question the motivation of frequently exposed spy cases from America. They believe US is trying to depreciate the international achievement and national image of the People's Republic of China.
In the announcement, Cai Zhiwei, aged 61 from Beijing, was jailed for 40 months because of illegally exporting more than 400 complicated integrated circuits. He is a CEO of a trading company in California. In another case, the 53 year old David Zhao and 50 year old Guo Zhiyong, were respectively sentenced 20 months and 5 years imprisonment. They were arrested in LA airport last year in possession of 10 thermal imaging systems, which are widely used in military, judiciary and civil fields.
"It is not fresh to expose such cases," said Dai Xu, Chinese military expert. "Three main ways in which US want to deal with China are: to empty China economically; to surround China militarily; to depreciate China phenomenally. And the methods of depreciating China are usually familiar topics like spies and hackers. All these poor performances are carrying their points to hold China back, to depreciate China's achievement on national defense and to hit China's international image."
File photo: on the cover of German magazine "Der Spiegel" published in August of 2007, a photo named "Yellow Spy" shows a person with yellow face is looking outside from the curtain. The report behind the photo criticized that more and more industrial spy movements related with China happened in Germany in recent years.
