With the Year of Rabbit officially begun, four imported films join local films on the hot cinema slot, starting with The Tourist showing Sunday, action film Armored on February 22, animated flick Alpha and Omega on 25 and fantasy blockbusterI Am Number Four on 28.

Starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, The Tourist is a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer. The new version is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who wrote and directed the 2007 Oscar-winning film The Lives of Others.

Filmed in Venice and Paris, The Tourist follows Frank (Depp), who is traveling around Europe after breaking up with his girlfriend. He encounters Elise (Jolie), an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path and their romance quickly evolves into a deadly game of cat and mouse. Although promoted as an action-thriller, the film was nominated for three Golden Globes as a comedy and has so far grossed $224 million worldwide.

Crime thriller Armored, directed by Nimrd Antal and starring Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne, tells a story of a team from an armored car transport security firm who risk their lives when they embark on the ultimate heist against their own company. The film was released overseas in December 2009.

Meanwhile, animated film Alpha and Omega is also showing later this month. Two teen wolves, Kate and Humphrey, Alpha and Omega in the wolf "ranking," are trying to get home after being taken by park rangers and shipped halfway across the country. It is directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck, with the voices of Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Dennis Hopper (in his last film appearance), Danny Glover and Christina Ricci.

Teen science-fiction filmI Am Number Four by DreamWorks is showing on February 28, ten days after its US theater release, meaning Chinese sci-fi fans will not have to wait too long. The film is produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg, starring Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant and Teresa Palmer. It is about John Smith (Pettyfer), a high school student who has super powers to fight an evil species. The film will also be releasing in Imax format.
