Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California and a former action movie star, said he has never seen such an extraordinary World Expo before during a stopover in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, commonly known as the "Silicon Valley of Shanghai," on Sept. 12 after finishing his visit to the Shanghai World Expo.

A delegation of more than 100 business leaders from California led by Schwarzenegger visited the Expo Site on Sept. 12. During the visit, Schwarzenegger announced at the U.S. Pavilion that California will bid to host the 2020 World Expo in Silicon Valley, for Shanghai has proven that a World Expo will attract the attention of the entire world.

Schwarzenegger thinks highly of the China Pavilion, which was built based on the concept of an "Oriental Crown," and said that he was deeply impressed by the extraordinary China Pavilion.

Schwarzenegger used the word "extraordinary" many times during his visit in Shanghai. He was born into an ordinary Austrian family, used to be a bodybuilder and a movie star and has been the governor of California for several years.

He has realized his dream of becoming an extraordinarily successful man through hard work. In Hangzhou, he used his personal experiences to encourage ordinary small and medium-sized companies to do extraordinary things. In Shanghai, he expressed high praise for the Expo.

Schwarzenegger commended the Chinese-American couple who founded Marvell Technology, a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, when visiting the company's Shanghai operation in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.

"They are first-generation immigrants, and have made significant contributions to the Unites States," he said. "They not only started a business in California and created 3,000 job opportunities for the state, but also went back to Shanghai and created another 2,000 job opportunities here. This is how the American Dream is fulfilled."

Schwarzenegger also took the opportunity to "advertise" California's green technology. He said that thanks to the use of the green technology, California is 40 percent more energy-efficient than other parts of the United States.

"I come here with more than 100 business leaders and I am very glad to cooperate with China in introducing green technology for mutual benefit," he said.
