Escaping the city summer heat for the forests of Beijing to enjoy two days and three nights of music, camping and entertainment is behind promoter Modern Sky's latest addition to their growing festival lineup, The Greatwall Tanglewood Forest Music Festival.

A total of 72 acts will take to the festival's three stages from August 27-29 in Tanglewood Music Valley, Yanqing county, just 55 kilometers out of central Beijing.

According to Ding Taishen from Modern Sky, the festival's inspiration comes from the Tanglewood Music Festival in the US and the Berlin Summer Concert.

"The major difference of the Greatwall Tanglewood Forest Music Festival from others is the unique lifestyle of a free spirit and escapism, it is the first festival in Beijing where you can camp and be away from the urban environment," Ding told the Global Times. The festival's three stages will consist of a main stage for well-known big names, a fashion stage and an electronic stage. The majority of the lineup are frequent festival performers in China such as QQ, Pet Conspiracy and Pancake.

A new addition on the festival scene is godfather of Chinesepop, 56-year-old Luo Dayo, who will appear on Saturday with Malaysian band M1.
