As part of the exhibition commemorating the 65th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, a total of 6380 cloth shoes have been placed by the friendly people from Japan and the relatives of the deceased Chinese labours on Saturday to commemorate the Chinese labours died in Japan in 1940s. About 40 thousand Chinese people have been forced to toil in Japan during the World War II, among which 6380 people died there. According to the history, most of the Chinese labours did not have shoes at that time, so people placed the 6380 cloth shoes as a way to pay their condolences to the died labours. (Xinhua/Han Yuqing)
