More than 32,000 young people from China and Vietnam will gather in south China this month to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations.

The gathering, including 3,000 young people from Vietnam, will take place in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Aug. 25 to 29, Chen Jiwa, vice chief of the Communist Party of China's Guangxi regional committee, told a press conference here Thursday.

They would plant friendship trees, attend friendship forums, evening galas and many other activities, said Chen.

The program, jointly sponsored by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and Guangxi authorities, was one of the events planned for the Sino-Vietnam Friendship Year this year, said Chen.

Vietnam borders China on Guangxi and Yunnan Province.

Vietnam has been Guangxi's top trade partner for six years and tourism, education and cultural exchanges have grown.
