Actress Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail after spending 14 days behind the bars and is expected to head straight to rehab, authorities said on Monday.

The troubled actress left the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood at about 1:35 a.m.(0830 GMT) as part of an early release program for nonviolent offenders aimed at reducing overcrowing, Los Angels County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said. Nonviolent female inmates generally serve about 25 percent of their sentence.

A Cadillac Escalade full-size luxury sport utility vehicle pulled up to the jail about 12:30 a.m. with a driver in a suit and security. The car headed to the back area of the jail, giving the slip to the waiting media throng that had been camped outside the jail,a witness at the jail said.

The 24-year-old actress is expected to go immediately into rehab at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, local media reported.

The "Mean Girls" star was sentenced on July 20 to a 90-day jail time for violation of her probation by missing multiple classes at a court-ordered alcohol-education program.
