The average length of education attained by Beijing residents reached 11.1 years, while the average length of education for the newly-added labor force reached 14 years, according to Beijing Daily.

There are also 6,700 college students for every 100,000 residents, according to a recent meeting attended by the city's senior education officials.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, Beijing has abolished tuition fees in compulsory education, improved the financing system used to help students from poor families and achieved the goal of providing rural students, urban students from poor families and disabled students with free compulsory education.

Moreover, Beijing also promoted high-quality compulsory education. By the end of last year, the gross enrollment rate of Beijing's secondary education stood at 99 percent, and the gross enrollment rate of higher education stood at 60 percent. Furthermore, the college admission rate has remained at over 70 percent for 10 consecutive years.
