Anthony Horowitz, the creator of the world's famous teen series "Alex Rider", has shared his writing experience and advice for teenage writers at a seminar held during the Hong Kong July Book Fair.

"Sometimes I think young people are more intelligent than adult. Think of the problems we adult caused to the world today, we have to count on our children to fix it in the future," Horowitz told some 200 children and their parents on Thursday.

Horowitz was invited to the Hong Kong Book Fair as a guest speaker of "Meet Renowned English-language Authors".

When asked to advice on how to become a writer, Horowitz said, "First, read, as much as you can. Second, write, anything a little bit for everyday. Third, go out, see the world."

"You need to experience to write," he added.

"Alex Rider" series have been translated into 33 languages and sold over 13 million copies worldwide, which almost beat the sales of "Harry Potter".

The annual book fair, which started on Wednesday, would last six days. Up to one million visitors, including thousands of visitors from the Chinese mainland, are expected to participate in the fair.

A record 510 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions are taking part in the fair.
