Dozens of light rays appeared over the sky of Huandao Street in Xiamen in the morning of July 10.

According to Mr. Wang, the witness, his friend discovered that several vertical rays of light had appeared in the sky at 11: 30 p.m. on July 9. When his friend called him, he was skeptical at first about what his friend described. However, after he saw it, he was shocked.

"At first, there were only five light rays and they were quite low in the sky. Later, more and more rays appeared continuously and the dozens of light rays look like a stave hanging high in the sky," said Mr. Wang.

To learn more about the rare phenomenon, the reporter called the Xiamen Meteorological Observatory. However, the staff there said that they did not have any information about this astronomical event through their supervision system or any reports about the phenomenon.

Staff members also said that it was not caused by meteor showers.
