Beijing ranks world's 9th richest city

Beijing ranked ninth on the 2010 list of the world's richest cities compiled by British real estate agency Knight Frank and Citigroup and released on March 24. New York, London and Paris took the top three spots.

The city rankings were based on four indexes, including economy, political influence, scientific research infrastructure and living standard, according to the report on on March 24.
The top three cities on the list are New York, London and Paris, followed by Tokyo, Los Angeles, Brussels, Singapore, Berlin, Beijing and Toronto.

According to statistics, Washington D.C. has the highest political influence, while the living standard in Paris is the highest.
When commenting on this year's list, experts specifically mentioned the progress made by certain global cities, including Berlin's improved living standard, which jumped to second place, and Beijing's political influence, now ranked fourth.
