Presently, an unprecedented "cheap-lunch hunting map" is quietly spreading among white-collar employees working in office buildings in the Jiefangbei area in Chongqing Municipality.

The map contains 7 canteens of institutions such as schools, hospitals, insurance companies and banks. Aside from cautions, a "reference price" is even available: A lunch at the canteen in Dayuan Plaza costs about 5 yuan, and a glass of soy-bean milk is served free of charge if you arrive early; a lunch with free fruit at the canteen in China Everbright Bank costs about 6 yuan.

Wang Dan, a keeper of the "map" working at the Chongqing Poly Wanhe Cinema Chain, said that she secured the "map" from one of her friends. It is said there were only 2 to 3 canteens listed on the map in the past. With its dissemination, people added canteens they knew on the map, expanding the number to reach its current total of 7. More canteens will likely be added.

In the eyes of outsiders, the lives of white-collar workers are attractive because of sound working environment and high incomes. If so, why do they bother to find "cheaper meals?" Obviously, it is related to the continued rise in consumer prices and the steady rise in CPI during the recent period.
