In Japan, civil servants also get money as their year-end bonus. The average bonus for performing duties outside the norm is around 696,000 yen, and provincial civil servants can get 662,000 yen in a year. In 2007, the highest bonus awarded to the supreme president of court was 5.86 million yen.
