China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Art Troupe staged a dazzling Spring Festival performance Thursday evening, bringing festive warmth and blessings to overseas and ethnic Chinese in Cameroon.
It is the first time that Chinese in Cameroon have invited an art troupe to put on a Spring Festival performance in the western African country since it established diplomatic relations with China 37 years ago.
Traditional Chinese singing and dancing were watched by an audience of more than 1,000, evoking the atmosphere of the Chinese Lunar New Year festival.
Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon Huang Changqing said the performance was of great significance, as more and more Chinese are traveling to and living in the African country, promoting China-Cameroon cooperation and helping to develop friendship between the two countries.
Chen Bosong, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese General Association of Industry and Commerce of Cameroon, said Chinese businessmen in Cameroon have played a positive role in pushing forward the rapid development of bilateral trade. And he added that their contributions were set to continue.
