At 2:30 pm on March 9, local time, having completed construction of the Kunlun Station and all its summer missions, China's 25th Antarctic expedition team started withdraw from the Zhongshan Station. The polar expedition ship "Xuelong" departed from the Antarctic Zhongshan Station's offshore marine area and began its journey home.

During the summer in Antarctic, the inland icecap unit of the Antarctic expedition team successfully scaled Dome A, the highest point on the Antarctic icecap, for the third time, and smoothly carried out construction of the Kunlun Station. On their return, the inland team completed scientific expedition missions known as "PANDA," which comprised of cross-section research between Dome A and the Zhongshan Station.

At the same time, the Antarctic expedition team completed missions for the China Program for the International Polar Year, including inspections of the Antarctic's Emery ice shelf, research on Prydz Bay and regular scientific observations of the Zhongshan Station.

With the summer missions of the 25th Antarctic expedition smoothly carried out, the number of China’s scientific expedition stations in the Antarctic region has increased to three. Also, for the first time, China has a scientific expedition station in the Antarctica core area.
